One inbox, read by editors
Everything reaches us at support@playathomefest.com. That is the address we publish and the one we stand behind. It is read and sorted by our own editorial team, not by an outsourced help desk and not by an automated agent. We do not run a wall of per-department aliases, because on a team this size they only create places for a message to sit unread.
You will reach the right person faster if you put the purpose at the front of the subject line. CORRECTION, TIP, PITCH, ADVERTISING, or PRIVACY is all we need to route your message. If you are writing about a particular article, paste the link rather than retyping the headline, because two stories can share a headline and only one has your problem in it.
Corrections and complaints about coverage
If we have published something factually wrong, write with CORRECTION in the subject, include the link, and quote the sentence you are disputing. Names, figures, dates, and places are what we most often get wrong and what we most want to hear about. Our corrections policy explains what happens from the moment your message lands to the moment a note goes on the story.
Complaints about framing, emphasis, or a headline you think is unfair go to the same inbox. Where we can, we have them read by an editor who did not work on the story, so the answer is not just the original writer defending the original choice. If you want a reply rather than a silent edit, say so, and you will get one.
Story tips, and the confidential kind
Tips are among the most valuable messages we get. A document, a filing, a notice, a recording, a first-hand account of something the official version leaves out: send it, and tell us where and when you came by it, because the provenance is half of what makes it usable. Even a pointer to a story we have missed helps, and you do not need to write it up for us.
If sending us something could put your job, your safety, or your standing at risk, protect yourself before you protect the story. Write from a personal account on a personal device, not a work system, and make CONFIDENTIAL the first word of the subject line so it is handled that way from the start. We will reply to agree a safer channel before you send anything sensitive. We do not identify our sources to anyone, advertisers and lawyers included.
Pitches, releases, and advertising
Freelance pitches are welcome, especially from places and beats we cannot reach from a desk. Two or three short paragraphs is plenty: what the story is, who you can talk to, why now, and roughly what it will cost. Press releases are fine as plain text in the body of the message. We do not open unsolicited attachments, so paste, do not attach.
Advertising, sponsorship, and partnership enquiries go to the same address with ADVERTISING in the subject, and they are handled on the business side, away from the desk that would cover you. What we sell and the categories we will not run are set out on our advertise page.
Privacy requests, legal notices, and reply times
For access to or deletion of your personal data, or any question about what our analytics and advertising partners collect, write with PRIVACY in the subject. The rights you hold and how to use them are described in our privacy policy. If you need a postal route to serve a formal legal notice, ask and we will provide one.
We deal with corrections the day we read them and aim to answer everything else within two working days. That can stretch during a major breaking story, when the desk is pointed at the news. If a week goes by with no reply, resend, because messages do occasionally get lost. One last thing: we will not ask you to trust any social media account as ours. If an account claims to speak for PLAY AT HOME FEST, check it against this inbox first.
