Terms of Service

The short version

These terms are the agreement between you and PLAY AT HOME FEST when you use this site. They are not written to trap you. They exist so that both sides know what is expected, what we promise, and what we do not. By reading, browsing, or otherwise using the site, you accept them. If you cannot accept them, the honest course is not to use the site.

We may update these terms as the site changes or the law does. When we make a change that matters, the date at the foot moves and, for a significant change, a short note goes up for a while. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the current version.

Using the site

You may read our journalism, link to it, and share links freely. That is the point of publishing. In return we ask a few plain things. Do not break into or probe our systems. Do not scrape at a scale that degrades the site for other readers. Do not upload anything unlawful, and do not use the site to harass another person or to pass yourself off as us.

Automated access, including large-scale copying to train a model or to rebuild our archive elsewhere, is not permitted without our written agreement. Reasonable indexing by search engines is welcome, because that is how readers find us. If you are unsure which side of the line your project falls, ask us at support@playathomefest.com before you start rather than after we notice.

Our content, and yours

The articles, images, and design on this site are owned by us or used with permission, and are protected by copyright. You may quote a reasonable extract with credit and a link, the ordinary practice of fair dealing and fair use. You may not republish whole articles, sell our content, or present it as your own. If you want to license or syndicate something, our DMCA and copyright policy explains the routes, and a licensing request goes to the same inbox.

If you send us material, a tip, a comment, a photograph, a letter, you keep ownership of it, but you give us permission to publish, edit, and archive what you send in connection with our journalism, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. Do not send us anything you do not have the right to share. How we treat confidential material is set out on our contact page.

Links and third parties

We link out constantly, because a story you can check is worth more than one you cannot. A link is not an endorsement, and we do not control what sits at the other end of it. Once you leave our site you are on someone else’s terms and privacy policy, not ours. The same goes for advertisements, which are supplied by third parties under the rules on our advertise page.

No warranty, and the limits of our liability

We work hard to be accurate and current, and we correct what we get wrong. Even so, news is provided on an as-is basis for general information. We do not warrant that every item is complete, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose, and we cannot promise the site will always be available without interruption. Nothing on this site is professional advice, a point our disclaimer makes at length.

To the fullest extent the law allows, PLAY AT HOME FEST is not liable for loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, anything published here, including indirect or consequential loss. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits on liability, and where that is so, these limits apply only as far as the law permits. Nothing here removes a right you have that cannot lawfully be removed.

Suspension, governing terms, and how to reach us

We may restrict or withdraw access for anyone who breaks these terms, attacks the site, or uses it unlawfully, and we may remove material we are required to remove. We do not, as a matter of policy, delete accurate journalism to please anyone, and our corrections policy explains the narrow exceptions.

These terms are governed by the law of the place where our publisher is established, and disputes fall to the courts there, without affecting any mandatory protection you enjoy where you live.
